OUT OF ORDER
Mark and Lorna, an enormously successful screenwriting team, find their marriage and their careers on the line when Mark drifts into a casual affair, and Lorna becomes immersed in the world of clinical depression and chemical dependency.
Scenes from a modern marriage in crisis unravel before a successful Hollywood screenwriter who’s struggling to keep his dream for a happy life alive…
For as long as he can remember, Mark (Golden Globe nominee Eric Stoltz, Mask) has seen his life played out like a movie. Perfect then that he should become half of an enormously successful screenwriting team with his wife Lorna (Golden Globe nominee Felicity Huffman, Sports Night). But their Hollywood marriage is struggling to reach a happy ending. Clinically depressed and chemically dependent, Lorna has retreated into a repressive shell that’s proving destructive to their careers. Mark’s only inspiration comes from raising his son Walter (Dyllan Christopher, Stuart Little 2), his innocent afternoon flirtations with a soccer mom, Dani (Kim Dickens, Hollow Man), and his less than innocent attraction to Annie (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Justine Bateman, Family Ties), a willing young admirer.
When Lorna finally unleashes the demons that have been haunting her since childhood, she’s certain that it’s a healthy first step toward a liberating new beginning. It all leads to a new—and equally destructive—route of escape with Stephen (Oscar nominee William H. Macy, Fargo), a family friend and alcoholic who’s pulling the vulnerable wife and mother farther away from her husband. With careers, a marriage, and lives on the line, Mark finds himself torn between a dead-end love affair, landing a new job with a high-profile director (Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Peter Bogdanovich, Paper Moon), and facing the truth and consequences of living out one’s dreams.
Written by real-life husband/wife writing team Wayne and Donna Powers, Out of Order is a raw and emotional odyssey of a contemporary marriage and the day-to-day trials of being human.
