A private detective and an esteemed criminologist join forces with a driven female journalist to uncover the clues in a high-profile murder—and save the young woman’s neck before the killer strikes again.
Nelson Raymond (Tony Denison, The Closer), the head of Omdicon, one of the most powerful corporations in America, is having hosting a gathering in his Los Angeles home with his fellow CEOs when he spots a party crasher. Working on a tip that Omdicon is another Enron, journalist Cheryl Collins (Tracey Needham, The Division) hopes to score a few exclusive interviews. But any bombshell leads on possible book-cooking are blown to smithereens when an explosion rocks Raymond’s mansion, killing the wealthy magnate. When the detonator is found in the trunk of Cheryl’s car, she seeks the help of private detective Mike Bryant (Barry Van Dyke, Diagnosis Murder) and criminology professor Jonathan Maxwell (Emmy winner Dick Van Dyke, The Dick Van Dyke Show) to find out who set her up—and why—before she’s sent down.
All of Omdicon’s major players were there, including Omdicon president Karl Larch (Carmen Argenziano, Swordfish), who’s one step away from fraud charges; Karl’s wife Betty (Roxanne Hart, Chicago Hope), who was intimately close to the victim; Charles Burke (John Rosenfeld, Bruce Almighty), secret procurer for Omdicon’s boy’s club; and former lobbyist Max Arnholdt (Bradford English, Higher Learaning), who knows where Omdicon’s bodies are buried. Add Raymond’s bitter ex- wife (Lisa Thornhill, After the Sunset), and Cheryl has a perfect list of suspects, one of whom killed a dynamite story and went to a lot of trouble to frame her for murder. Before she finds out exactly who, she has to clear her own name. With two pros like Bryant and Maxwell on her side, she stands a good chance, if she lives long enough.
Add three canny sleuths to one twisting tale of greed and revenge, and you have the most exciting new who-done-it on television—Murder 101. No matter how closely you study the clues, you’ll never guess who did it.
