JANE DOE 3: THE WRONG FACE
Cathy Davis is called back into undercover work when a prominent attorney’s wife is kidnapped, but when an immoral construction company owner throws a wrench into the works, Cathy finds herself facing one of the most baffling puzzles of her career.
When it comes to brilliant puzzles, it takes an equally brilliant mind to solve them—especially when the most important pieces of all are missing…
Fresh Start Construction is intended as a work program hiring only ex-cons—and run by Ray Jackson (Michael Bailey Smith, Monster Man), an ex-con himself with a rap sheet twice as long as his tattooed arm. He swears he’s on the up-and-up but Jackson’s being held on money laundering charges and NSA Bureau Chief Frank Darnell (Joe Penny, Jake and the Fatman) and powerful attorney Phil Raphaelson (John Rubinstein, 21 Grams) are working together on a conviction. Now comes the snag: Raphaelson’s wife Caroline (Emmy winner Roaxana Zal, Something About Amelia) has been kidnapped from a spa while undergoing cosmetic surgery. The ransom? Jackson’s freedom.. The exchange? Caroline’s life. His employees may be closer to a street gang than a roofing crew, but Jackson still maintains his absolute innocence. What the NSA needs now is an expert like Cathy Davis (Lea Thompson, Back to the Future) —code name Jane Doe—to crack this case.
A suburban wife, devoted mother, and ingenious puzzle maker, Cathy isn’t eager to become involved in her old undercover life. But a couple pieces of this puzzle intrigue her. The first is the spa’s night watchman who swears that he never saw anyone enter or leave Caroline’s room that night. Second, the matter of the disguised sixteen-year-old girl at the spa, bandaged to play the ringer when Caroline vanished—and she did it without a hitch. Unfortunately this silent witness has vanished off the face of the earth too. For Cathy, herself a mother of a teenage girl, the case hits close to home. For Jane Doe, it’s a race against time to uncover the truth and save an innocent woman’s life before a shady crime ring reaches out for its next victim.
When it comes to crime solving, nobody does it better than Jane Doe, but this case is firing its surprises at point-blank range and someone’s not going to make it out alive.
