Patsy is a single mother who’s struggling to survive on a part-time salary, to make ends meet she agrees to deal drugs. Soon she has to decide between helping the FBI or go to prison, but she’ll do anything to protect her family.
How far would you go for the family you loved? What would you risk? For one suburban mother, the answer comes with a price greater and more dangerous than she ever imagined.
Oscar and Golden Globe winner Diane Keaton (Annie Hall) is Patsy McCartle, a widowed single mother of two young boys who’s struggling to survive on a part-time salary. Like most in the mill town of Leeville, Illinois, she’s hanging on by her fingernails. Then she runs into her friend Carey (Lynda Boyd, I Spy), a young mother with a six-year-old son. Carey understands all too well Patsy’s predicament; she was in the same boat until she bailed herself out by dealing drugs. Now she’s offering Patsy a similar opportunity. Reluctantly, desperate Patsy agrees, assuring Carey that it’s only until she finds a new job. According to Carey, however, Patsy won’t want another job.
In no time at all, Patsy’s bills are paid, she can put food on the table, and she can give her boys the necessities they need. But as the job begins to take its toll—physically and emotionally—Patsy finds herself at the crossroads of a grave moral dilemma. The choice of what to do is abruptly made for her by a brutal triple murder that strikes close to home. When she’s solicited by the FBI to lead them to the drug kingpin responsible—or risk prison time—Patsy embarks on a nightmarish journey into a dark underworld that puts her life and the lives of her children in jeopardy. But for Patsy, determined to protect her family, there’s no turning back.
