AUDREY’S RAIN
After her sister’s suicide Audrey Walker becomes surrogate mother to her children, as well as caretaker to her emotionally fragile sister. When a childhood sweetheart returns, Audrey realises that memories are not a thing to be feared but embraced.
I was smart, pretty, and had a quick wit. Look what it got me. My sister’s two children and a crazy woman. Meet Audrey Walker, a woman secretly searching for a reason to be.
Since the suicide of her sister Bess, Audrey (Emmy winner Jean Smart, Designing Women) has become grudgingly resigned to her new fate as caretaker of her emotionally fragile sister Marguerite (Kathleen Wilhoite, E.R.) and failed surrogate mother to her nephew Tye (Angus T. Jones, Bringing Down the House) and niece Charlotte (Kristina Malota, Erin Brokovich). Her best friend Missy (Emmy winner Carol Kane, Taxi) remains optimistic for Audrey though—if only she’d realise what life still has to offer and allow a little light back in to her life, she could finally find happiness.
A shining possibility is Terry Lloyd (Richard Gilliland, thirty something), a widower who’s returned to his hometown longing to reunite with his childhood sweetheart. To caustic, jaded Audrey, he’s just another painful reminder of the past. But Missy sees him as a prospect for Audrey’s future—a gift sent from the heavens and from Bess’s spirit, which can be seen in the beauty of butterflies, heard in the whisper of the winds, and felt in the cleansing wash of a warm spring rain. All Audrey has to do is realise that memories are not a thing to be feared, but rather embraced—like love, acceptance, and family, life’s miracles must be never be taken for granted.
Directed by Sam Pillsbury (Where the Red Fern Grows), Audrey’s Rain is a heartwarming film about family and friendship, compromise and commitment, and finding the courage to love again.
