CONUNDRUM

Detective Rose Ekberg (Marg Helgenberger) and her partner Stash Horak (Michael Biehn) are trying to bring down an extortion operation run by a brutal Vietnamese gang. When Joey Tam (Arthur Eng), the sadistic son of ganglord Tony Tam (Harvey Chao) is killed in a police sting, the father vows revenge. Shortly thereafter, Horak’s pregnant wife (Karen Waddell) and a co-worker are found savagely murdered.

Police investigators, led by Captain Kirkland (Peter MacNeill) find that the elder Tam has an alibi. At the same time, Detective Gordon Mulvaney (Ron White), who has a long-time grudge against Ekberg, discovers and reveals that she and Horak have been romantically involved — that, in fact, the relationship has grown hotter in the days since the murder. Mulvaney then uncovers circumstantial evidence that makes Ekberg the focus of scrutiny.

As pressure mounts, Ekberg realizes that her apparent links to the murder are more than just circumstance: she is being framed. Barely evading arrest, and knowing time is against her, Detective Ekberg pursues her own investigation which points to a chilling act of treachery.

Did her partner, Horak, kill his wife and set her up to take the fall? After a hectic four-party chase involving Ekberg, Horak, other police and ganglord Tam, she is able to clear herself and reveal the shocking identity — and motive — of the real killer.
