JACK

Jack (Anton Yelchin, Taken)—a fifteen-year-old high school student—believes he has a fairly typical life. He has a best friend in Max (Giacomo Baessato, Dreamcatcher), a new girlfriend in Maggie (Britt Irvin, Taken), a mother Anne (Emmy winner Stockard Channing, The West Wing) whom he loves and trusts, and a father Paul (Emmy nominee Ron Silver, Ali) whom he sees as his own personal Superman. When Jack’s father moves out and his mother withdraws, he’s left to wonder what went wrong. Believing his son old enough to understand, Paul finally levels with him. He has fallen in love with a man. They’ve moved in together, and they’re building a new life. But for young Jack, life is just not that simple.

His dad has suddenly become a stranger he wants nothing to do with and doesn’t even want to understand. Then Maggie delivers a bombshell of her own: her dad is also gay, and she’s willing to offer all the support Jack can use. But the boy still has more troubles to weather: cruel taunts from his school peers, adjusting to his mother’s new boyfriend—as well as his father’s—and the discovery that his friend Max has shocking family problems of his own. So begins a season that evolves into a turning point in a young adolescent’s life as loyalties shift, trust is betrayed, friendships are tested, and questions about love and family are forever raised and sometimes even answered. This time for Jack, it is so simple—people are who they are.

Jack’s transition from childhood into adulthood provides the provocative backdrop for this honest and life-affirming film about acceptance, self-esteem, growing up, and growing wise. Jack is directed by Lee Rose (An Unexpected Love) and co-stars Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Andrew Airlie (Shattered Glas).
