MONSTER MAKERS
A teenage horror-movie buff discovers the lost reels of a never-before-seen classic, but watching Monsters on the Loose turns into a scary real-life adventure when a bolt of lightning sets the films creatures free.
Living a horror film might be a fantasy for most monster-movie buffs, but when three creatures jump off the screen and into real life, the horror really hits home…
To thirteen-year-old monster-movie geek, Tim Stoker (newcomer Tim McCallum), nothing could be more fun than advising college fraternities on spooking up their seasonal haunted houses. That’s until he and his mum (Golden Globe winner Linda Blair, The Exorcist) move in with a long forgotten director of fright flicks, Dexter Brisbane (Oscar winner George Kennedy, Cool Hand Luke). While packing up a treasure trove of Dexter’s movie memorabilia, Tim uncovers the director’s lost 1951 film, Monsters on the Loose. For Tim, there’s no better way to spend a stormy Halloween night than to have Tina (Ashley Edner, The House of Sand and Fog), the prettiest girl in school, over for a private screening.
But when a bolt of lightning surges and the bizarre radium nitrate film flickers, three ghastly monsters—the humanoid Manikin, the body-possessing Revenant, and the half-man/half-rat Vermin—are set free to wreak havoc on Tim’s hometown. Knowing that their defeat lies in the unwatched finale, the monsters have escaped with all three reels of the movie. Luckily, the film’s hero, young, handsome Sheriff Jay Forrest (Adam Baldwin, Full Metal Jacket), leapt into the real world as well. Now Tim must call on his own monster-movie lore, team up with his new girlfriend and Sheriff Forrest to urge the elderly director out of retirement, and stop the monsters from turning a classic creature-feature into a real-life horror show.
Vintage monster movies literally come to life in this frightfully entertaining adventure from Alpine Medien. You provide the popcorn—the monsters will devour the rest.
