MURDER 101: COLLEGE CAN BE MURDER
Professor Archer Coe has been poisoned and the suspects are piling up: his student lover, his jealous wife, the student’s father, and teacher Stuart Evans whose career was in Coe’s cruel hands. Lucky for Stuart, he has Dr Maxwell in his corner.
He may be forgetful, but Dr. Jonathan Maxwell (Emmy winner Dick Van Dyke, The Dick Van Dyke Show), on-call criminologist and bemused professor, knows his way around campus—especially when he’s looking for a killer.
University teacher Stuart Evans (Whip Hubley, CSI: Miami) loves his job and is still innocent enough to hope for tenure based on his recommendations and published articles. But the committee is a tough one. It’s headed by unyielding Camille Brewster (Stephanie Venditto, House), three weeks as acting dean and moving her way surely up the academic ladder, and above her, Archer Coe (Alex Hyde-White, Catch Me If You Can), the epitome of a college professor—erudite, condescending, egotistical, and determinedly opinionated. He doesn’t think Stuart has what it takes. At least Stuart has Jonathan Maxwell on his side. It may not hold much sway with the nominating committee, but Jonathan’s a terrific guy to have in your corner should a crime ever be committed.
Now Stuart needs him more than ever. When Coe is poisoned with a lethal does of Digitoxin, a syringe is found in Stuart’s home. He had the means, the opportunity, and the motive—a veritable trifecta of guilt. But when it’s discovered that Coe was having an affair with one of his students and was being blackmailed with incriminating photos, Jonathan and his partner, Mike Bryant (Barry Van Dyke, Diagnosis Murder), are certain they’re on to a weightier list of suspects, including Coe’s vengeful wife and the young student’s influential father. With Camille trying to cover up the whole sordid mess (no scandal please on her watch) Jonathan and Mark must work overtime to prove their friend’s innocence.
A formidable duo primed to crack the most unsolvable crimes, Maxwell and Bryant are in a class all their own—on campus or off.
